Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This
The other weekend we had 7 soccer games, the arrival of a llama (!), Number 2 was doing a reading in church, Number 4 had to be at the same mass for her Inscription Ceremony for making her first communion and Spouse had a Knights of Columbus event on Saturday from 3 in the afternoon until 9pm.
Piled on top of our normal chaos, it was a weekend that left me wanting me to curl up in a fetal position on my bed and hide from the world.
But I couldn’t. So I had to share with someone. Here are the texts I sent Spouse while he was away:
If you could bring home a gallon of milk, that would be great. Yes, we were out of milk, again.
And something chocolate, maybe ice cream.
I need chocolate to go with the wine.
John is stuck in the muck pile. The kids and I couldn’t get him out. I got coated in muck trying. Yup, I got Deerest John, my tractor, stuck out back (again) while trying to prep the stall for the arrival of the llama. I tried to push him out with Number 2 at the wheel and the back tire churned up manure that covered me from head to toe.
Our brand new door is broken. The door knob won’t work. We had trouble with the old door for about a year before we finally got it replaced. It wasn’t an easy fix – the size wasn’t standard and we had to have someone build a whole new casing for the door. The new door is only a month old and it is broken already.
Number 3 flooded the basement after a half hour battle to make him bathe. Number 3 is in the dirty boy phase. You know, the one that lasts from about age 8 to….well, Number 1 is still in it at 13 years old! After an epic battle to get him in the tub, he got water all over the basement.
Every so often when the kids take a bath, it makes water leak in the basement (I mean it doesn’t happen every time, not that kids only take a bath ever so often). We have not been able to find how it happens or where the water is coming through.
You need to find a babysitter! Our old babysitter graduated high school and left us. We are in desperate need of a new one!
