Friday Fun – Eating Out
We had the chance to eat out twice this week at very different kinds of restaurants.
With 5 kids, we have unfortunately turned into buffet people. Eating out mainly consists of going to places where we can get in and feed the kids quickly before a catastrophe happens.
This week we tried a Golden Corral. I have never been there before. It was your pretty average buffet place – except for the dessert bar. At the dessert bar was a chocolate fountain and a person making cotton candy. The kids were in heaven! They could never even have imagined that such a thing as a chocolate fountain existed.
Later in the week we tried to go to a family Japanese restaurant (my kids love Japanese food) but it was full and they sent us over to their sister seafood restaurant that was attached to the Japanese restaurant. (You could order off either menu.)
I took one look and almost walked out of the restaurant. It had tablecloths! I couldn’t remember the last time we took the kids to a restaurant with tablecloths. The closest thing they had seen lately was the full table write-on paper at family Italian restaurants.
But everything turned out great! Despite the 5 trips to the bathroom with Number 5, the kids were very well-behaved and super adventurous with their food choices. Number 2 even ate sushi and everyone tried the fried shrimp shells that came with his dish (except Number 3, he is allergic to shrimp). The waitress kept complimenting the kids on their behavior and that they were trying new food.
I guess I need to let the scars from other disastrous restaurant outings fade and get ready to enjoy eating out again!
