AngelRide – We’ve Got Riders!
Numbers 2 and 3 have signed up as Youth Riders for the AngelRide! I am so proud of them 🙂
They will be riding their bikes 6.5 miles in Mystic, CT on May 25 to raise money for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp and Hospital Outreach Program. 100% of monies raised through sponsoring riders goes towards these programs.
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp was started by Paul Newman in 1988 in Connecticut. The camp offers a free camp adventure to children coping with serious illnesses – often an experience these children can never have due to their medical conditions. But with specialized equipment and unobtrusive expert medical care, even the most seriously ill children can experience the thrills of camp.
288 campers shared the experience that first year. Last year, 2,500 campers experienced a full camping experience.
The Hospital Outreach Program visits children in the hospital that are too sick to go to camp and brings camping activities on-site to 27 facilities in the Northeast. Last year, the Outreach Program made 22,000 visits to sick kids, 15,000 of which were funded by AngelRide.
A very good friend of mine (and godfather to Number 4), Dana Bean, brought my attention to this inspiring cause. Dana rides the full 2-day ride, a total of 135.4 miles, and will be making his 6th ride this year!
If you would like to contribute to Number 2 or 3 for the ride, you can email me and I can help set you up (I refrain from posting their info on my blog for privacy purposes).
